Slovak Association of Seed Traders and Breeders (SASTAB) has been established on May 25th 1993
in according to the §20f of Slovak Civil Code in purpose of unifying,
supporting and putting through the interests of plant breeders and seed producers.
In May 1995 SASTAB has been accepted as a member of FIS and ASSINSEL.
 The General Assemblies both of these organizations adopted a motion in Rome on May 25, 2000
for the merger of the two associations. The name of the new association
will be the "International Seed Federation (ISF)". On behalf of the General Assembly of the Slovak Association of Seed Traders
and Breeders the association decided on its meeting on 14 December 2004 to finish the ISF membership in the year 2004.
Since 12 of October 2004 association join ESA (European Seed Asociation) as a ordinary member.
SASTAB is the non for profit and voluntary union of legal entities with
residence in Slovakia dealing with plant breeding, seed growing, seed trading
and providing services in the area of plant breeding and seed activities.
SASTAB members are working in two chambers i.e.
- Chamber of breeders
- Chamber of seed traders
Four working commissions are dealing with specific problems in seed trading and plant breeding activities i.e.:
- Commission for breeding, seed trade and legislative
- Commission for economy and elimination of illegal seed trade
- Control commission
At the present time SASTAB has 26 regular members (please see the membership list)
